(Recently, the anti-seepage project for an irrigation and water storage dam located in the arid area on the edge of the East African Rift Valley, Kenya, has successfully passed joint acceptance. With a total water storage capacity of 600,000 cubic meters, this lifeline project effectively addresses seasonal drought and guarantees irrigation for tens of thousands of mu of farmland.)

 

为应对东非高原强烈的紫外线辐射与复杂的碎石基床,项目全量采用了我厂生产的 1.5mm 全新料 HDPE 土工膜及复合土工材料,各项防渗及耐久度指标均达到国际行业标准。

(To cope with intense ultraviolet radiation and complex crushed stone subgrade on the East African Plateau, the project fully adopted 1.5mm virgin HDPE geomembrane and composite geotextile materials manufactured by our factory. All anti-seepage and durability indicators meet international industry standards.)

 

一、项目背景:季节性干旱下的东非“水银行”

 Project Background: A "Water Bank" Against Seasonal Drought

 

肯尼亚部分地区属于典型的热带草原气候,全年分为明显的雨季和旱季。在雨季,降雨量集中且常伴有洪涝;而在长达数月的旱季,农田则面临严重干旱。

(Parts of Kenya feature a typical tropical savanna climate with distinct rainy and dry seasons. Torrential rainfall and floods often occur during the rainy season, while farmlands suffer from severe drought for months in the dry season.)

 

为了打破这一“靠天吃饭”的困局,当地农业开发署在东非大裂谷边缘投资兴建了一座大型农业调节蓄水池。其核心功能是在雨季收集并储存雨水,在旱季为周边的玉米、咖啡及蔬菜种植基地提供稳定的灌溉水源。

(To break the cycle of relying solely on natural rainfall, the local Agricultural Development Agency invested in building a large agricultural regulating reservoir on the edge of the East African Rift Valley. Its core function is to collect and store rainwater in the rainy season and supply stable irrigation water to surrounding corn, coffee and vegetable plantations throughout the dry season.)

 

由于当地土壤多为火山灰土及粗砂结构,渗透率极高,如果不对池底进行彻底的防渗处理,好不容易收集的雨水将在短时间内漏光。因此,铺设高标准、高强度的防渗土工膜成为整个工程成败的关键。

(The local soil is mainly composed of volcanic soil and coarse sand with extremely high permeability. Without thorough anti-seepage treatment for the reservoir base, the collected rainwater would leak away rapidly. Therefore, laying high-standard, high-strength anti-seepage geomembrane is critical to the success of the entire project.)

 

二、 环境挑战:高原环境对材料的客观要求

在非专业人士看来,土工膜只是一层“塑料布”,但在非洲特殊的气候条件下,对材料的配方和物理性能有着极其严苛的要求:

(To the general public, geomembrane may seem like nothing more than a layer of "plastic sheeting". However, Africa’s unique climate imposes stringent requirements on material formulas and physical properties:)

 

超强的抗紫外线老化性能:项目所在地靠近赤道,海拔超过 1500 米。这里的太阳辐射极强,紫外线(UV)指数长期处于极高水平。普通含有回收料或稳定剂不足的聚乙烯膜,在强紫外线照射下,两三年内就会发生分子链断裂,导致管涌和渗漏。

Superior UV aging resistance: The project site lies close to the equator at an altitude of over 1,500 meters, where solar radiation is extremely strong and the UV index remains at a very high level all year round. Ordinary polyethylene membranes made from recycled materials or with insufficient stabilizers will suffer molecular chain breakage within two to three years under intense UV exposure, resulting in piping and water leakage.)

 

耐高温热变形能力:由于非洲日光直射时间长,暴露在空气中的黑色膜面表层温度在中午可高达 60°C 以上。材料必须具备优异的热稳定性,保证在高温下不发生过度蠕变或焊缝滑移。

High temperature resistance to thermal deformation: With long hours of direct sunlight in Africa, the surface temperature of exposed black geomembrane can exceed 60°C at noon. The material must possess excellent thermal stability to avoid excessive creep or weld slippage under high temperatures.)

 

基床耐刺穿考验:现场基坑由碎石和土石混合料碾压而成。土工膜在承受几十米深的水压时,会紧紧贴合在这些不平整的基床上,必须具备极高的抗穿刺强度,防止被底层硬物顶穿。

Resistance to puncture on subgrade: The foundation pit is compacted with crushed stone and earth-stone mixture. Under the hydraulic pressure of dozens of meters of water, the geomembrane closely adheres to the uneven subgrade, so it requires outstanding puncture resistance to prevent piercing by hard underlying materials.)

针对肯尼亚项目的实际环境,我厂技术团队推荐并交付了“全新料高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)土工膜 + 长丝聚酯土工布”的复合防渗方案。

Based on the actual site conditions of the Kenya project, our factory’s technical team proposed and delivered a composite anti-seepage solution consisting of virgin-material high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane combined with filament polyester geotextile.

The material formula incorporates precisely 2.5% high-quality carbon black, along with high-performance antioxidants and light stabilizers. Its Oxidative Induction Time (OIT) far exceeds the international GRI-GM13 standard, guaranteeing long-term resistance to UV aging even under uncovered, exposed site conditions.

 

优异的延展性:该批次土工膜的断裂伸长率。当基床发生局部不均匀沉降或受碎石抵压时,膜体能够依靠自身的韧性产生大比例延伸而不破裂。

Excellent Elongation Property

Elongation at break of this batch of geomembrane reaches outstanding levels. In cases of local uneven settlement of the foundation bed or point pressure from broken stones, the membrane can stretch significantly relying on its inherent toughness without cracking.

 

8米超宽幅优势:相比传统的 4米或 6米幅宽,8米大宽幅直接减少了近 30% 的现场接缝数量。接缝越少,意味着施工速度越快,长期运营中因焊接质量导致的漏点隐患也成倍降低。

Advantages of 8-Meter Extra-Wide Roll

Compared with conventional 4m or 6m-wide geomembranes, the 8m wide version cuts the number of field seams by nearly 30%. Fewer seams translate to faster construction progress and drastically lower risks of leakage caused by defective welds during long-term operation.

 

同时,在土工膜下方加铺了一层 400g/㎡ 的长丝聚酯土工布。该材料具有良好的反滤和排水功能,作为垫层有效缓冲了碎石对防渗膜的集中应力,形成了双重保护。

In addition, a layer of 400 g/m² filament polyester geotextile is laid beneath the geomembrane. This geotextile delivers reliable filtration and drainage performance. As a cushion layer, it effectively disperses concentrated stress imposed by crushed stones on the impermeable membrane, establishing a dual protection system.

 

四、 施工现场:高标准焊接与气压检测

On-site Construction: High-standard Welding and Air Pressure Testing

 

项目材料运抵肯尼亚现场后,我厂通过双语技术手册及视频连线,对负责安装的工程团队进行了规范化焊接的技术支持。

Upon arrival of project materials at the construction site in Kenya, our factory provided technical guidance on standardized welding operations to the installation engineering team via bilingual technical manuals and live video conferences.

 

施工采用国际通用的双轨热熔爬行焊接机。该设备能在一动一静两张膜之间同时熔接出两条焊缝,并在其中留出一条中空通道。

Construction was carried out using internationally standard dual-track hot melt automatic welding machines. This equipment simultaneously forms two weld seams between overlapping geomembrane sheets, leaving an empty air channel between the two seams.

 

在质量验收环节,每一段焊缝均经过严格的“正压检测”:用气针刺入两条焊缝之间的中空通道,使用气压泵打入气压,在规定时间内观察气压表。若压力无明显下跌,即证明该段焊接融合完美、无任何微小砂眼。全场累计数十万平方米的焊接面积,一次性气压测试合格率极高,赢得了肯尼亚工程监造方的一致认可。

For quality acceptance, every section of weld underwent rigorous positive air pressure testing: an air needle is inserted into the hollow channel between the double welds, and an air pump injects compressed air. The pressure gauge is monitored for a specified holding period. No obvious pressure drop indicates complete fusion of the weld with zero pinholes. With a total welded area covering hundreds of thousands of square meters across the entire site, the first-pass qualification rate of air pressure testing remained extremely high, earning unanimous recognition from the Kenyan project supervision team.

目前,该灌溉蓄水工程已全量蓄水并投入使用,经测算,每天的静态渗漏损失接近于零,达到了预期的设计防渗要求。

At present, this irrigation and water storage project has been fully filled with water and put into operation. Calculations show that its daily static seepage loss is close to zero, meeting the anti-seepage requirements of the original design.
